Dicalite to Attend Cultivate ‘24 Event
Sharing Innovations with the Horticulture Industry
Dicalite is gearing up to attend the Cultivate ‘24 event this month with our direct-to-consumer company, Harvest Hero. Together we’ll be meeting with green industry professionals to discuss our mineral offerings that help growers produce a healthier, more robust crop.
What is Cultivate
The Cultivate conference brings together a wide range of horticulture professionals to introduce innovative tools, products, and best practices across various segments of the industry. Hosted by AmericanHort, the leading national association for the green industry, this premier event attracts everyone from marketers and suppliers to gardeners and plant enthusiasts from all over the United States and the world.
This year, attendees will gather at the Greater Columbus Convention Center from July 13-16 to educate each other on everything from material supply and distribution to greenhouse and nursery production. For decades, Dicalite Management Group has been serving the horticultural industry with our multi-mineral offering of perlite, diatomaceous earth, and vermiculite to help soil blenders and commercial growers achieve optimal results. We are looking forward to sharing our wealth of knowledge about the industry and how our products help plants thrive.
The Versatility of Perlite
Perlite is a naturally occurring, lightweight mineral that is safe for use at a wide range of temperatures. Since it’s fireproof and free of organic contaminants, it makes an excellent insulator in the following applications:
- Construction
- Cryogenics
- Fire-resistance
Perlite’s low density, cost, and environmental footprint combined with its high availability and performance make it an essential filtration aid in many industries. It helps clarify a wide array of liquids, beverages, and pharmaceutical products.
Our horticultural perlite helps break up compacted soil for better water drainage. Expanded perlite provides space for both air and water within a soilless mix. Since it maintains a neutral pH between 6.5 to 7.5, it’s easier for plants to absorb nutrients. And many manufacturers and home gardeners find it easier to work with since it’s lighter than grit, sand, and pumice.
Dicalite is a leading supplier of domestically produced expanded perlite in North America. We have the experience, prime manufacturing locations, and broadest range of products to make us the go-to supplier for construction, filtration, and horticulture needs.
Grow Healthy Plants the Natural Way with Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous earth—also known as diatomite and DE—is the naturally occurring fossilized remains of diatoms, single-celled aquatic algae. This near-pure sedimentary deposit consists almost entirely of silica which can be absorbed into plant tissue and helps improve plant structure. It also contain micronutrients that can be absorbed by the plant’s root system and cell wall.
There are many other horticultural benefits of diatomaceous earth, including:
- Moisture retention. When used in potting mix, soil, and sandy soil, it helps hold more fluid so it doesn’t dry out as fast.
- Drought resistance. Not only is this a benefit for soil overall, but it plays a larger role when added to the sand of golf putting greens.
- ph buffer. Helps to maintain an optimal root-zone pH and minimizes fluctuations.
- Structural integrity. Helps promote resilience of young plants to abiotic stressors.
The team of engineers and agronomists at Dicalite have developed a 3-in-1 soil amendment that combines diatomaceous earth, perlite, and vermiculite to help soil blenders and commercial growers grow bigger and better plants. Harvest Hero Enhanced Perlite Mix takes the guesswork out of balancing these minerals to provide an optimal solution for home and commercial growers.
Cultivate the Perfect Blend
Harvest Hero’s Enhanced Perlite Mix is designed to improve soil conditions to help plants flourish. And according to research, it does just that. Harvest Hero’s Enhanced Perlite Mix is formulated with essential nutrients for the first four to six weeks of growth. It’s an excellent source of potassium and phosphorus to support overall plant growth, metabolism, root health, and seedling success.
