Broad Function

Responsible for preventive maintenance on stationary equipment including screens, conveyors, screws, elevators, and crushers. Please note that this is a union position with initiation fees & dues required. There are no costs for medical benefits.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform all responsibilities expected of a Maintenance Helper:

  • Perform basic welding and fabrication using stick welder, wire feed welder, acetylene torch, plasma cutter, grinder.
  • Take precise measurements and read basic drawings or blue-prints.
  • Replace bearings on all stationary equipment.
  • Inspect, replace, and patch all on site screens.
  • Replace idlers and rollers for all on site conveyor belts.
  • Replace all V-belts and power bands on all stationary equipment.
  • Operate extended fork, manlifts, and other mobile equipment used to perform maintenance.
  • Inspect Roller Mills (oil, rolls, plows and rings), Vertical Shaft Impact Crushers (oil, shoes, anvils, edge liners, and feed screws).
  • Replace baghouse filters (cages, venturis, and filter bag).
  • Install screw conveyor sheer bolts.
  • Familiar with safe rigging practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of how to safely use hand, fabrication, measurement, and power tools.
  • Follow all company safety guidelines and regulations found in 30 CFR (Mineral Resources).
  • Must have all tools from the Minimum Tool List.
  • Must be able to follow directions and have the aptitude to learn.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with Socorro Mine/Plant layout and equipment location.
  • Available for Emergency Call Outs
  • Internal Hire: Must be Socorro Mine Maintenance Helper for 6-months to 1-year or have been a previous “Maintenance Mechanic” for minimum 1-year.
  • External Hire: 2 to 4 years external experience in a technical field.

Working Conditions

Broad Function

Responsible for assisting in new electrical construction, installing, and troubleshooting low voltage electrical systems, and assisting Electricians II and III with electrical maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Bend, thread, and cut conduit.
  • Complete work orders, job safety analysis, and pre-shift inspections.
  • Pull wire through conduit, dig footings, and assist in new electrical construction.
  • Operate forklift, extended forklift, manlift, and any other mobile equipment required for maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and install low voltage 120V (AC & DC) circuits such as lights, control boards, outlets, HVAC, switches, etc.
  • Reset high and low voltage breakers.
  • Read low voltage schematics and perform basic mathematics.
  • Phase high and low voltage wires.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have GED or high school diploma.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for performing repairs, preventative, trouble-shooting maintenance within a mineral processing facility. A successful candidate requires good mechanical aptitude with ability and desire to learn. Experience in welding and mechanical and/or electrical repair desired.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Must be able to perform skilled mechanical work with ability to cut and weld.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on processing plant equipment.
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to changes and communicate effectively to all parties to keep operations running efficiently.
  • Assist in the repair and fabrication of process equipment as required.
  • Be willing to work overtime as needed (including some weekends and call-ins).
  • Assist in keeping the shop and production facility organized and free of hazards.

Minimum Qualifications

Job Summary

The QC Technician is responsible for the inspection of raw materials, in-process testing and managing material and finished products to ensure they conform to all standards. The material and product will be tested across the three stages of production (before, in-process and final) to ensure products meet quality control specifications along with recording and maintaining documentation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage QC testing of finished perlite samples and ensure that finished goods meet quality control standards before shipping.
  • Manage all functions of the plant labs including collecting, testing, documenting, retention, and training from raw material, through the production, to finished goods testing.
  • Conduct a variety of tests of materials using various testing tools and methods.
  • Conduct a series of audits throughout the production, packaging, material handling, quality evaluation and shipping processes.
  • Responds to and makes recommendations for preventive measures regarding the resolution and prevention of Customer Complaints.
  • Train and supervise all personnel and activities related to the testing of samples.
  • Interact with other Dicaperl locations on QC procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the QC team and members of other teams (production, maintenance, etc.)
  • Collect, test, document and send sample requests to customers.
  • Cross train with Production Supervisor and can fill in as needed.
  • Maintain high level communication with Production Supervisor and Plant Manager to ensure efficiency and meeting all plant goals.
  • Verification of shipping documents.
  • Ability to create written procedures or standard work for process control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills with experience in (Outlook, Excel and Word) is required.
  • Minimum 2-year degree preferred.
  • The ability to work with a high degree of independence.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to quality and detail.
  • Three years of experience in light duty manufacturing required.
  • Two years’ quality assurance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment would be a plus.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal).
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment (multi-tasking skills a must).

Job Summary

As part of the Specialty Vermiculite team located in Enoree, SC, the HSQ Coordinator will manage and monitor internal and external safety and compliance programs, coordinate employee training, oversee product quality control reporting and purchasing administration functions.

The position will:

  • Manage and ensure administrative compliance with internal and external record keeping related to Health, Safety and Product Quality Control.
  • Ensure workplace safety and compliance records meet industry standards, as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and Best Practice protocols.
  • Maintain records as defined by MSHA, OSHA, South Carolina DHEC, ISO 9000, UL Certification, and Internal Control systems.
  • Maintain Certificate of Analysis (COA) product quality records ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
  • Coordinate employee training programs to meet compliance with regulatory and internal standard protocol.
  • Administer training programs, field inspections, laboratory practices, and other functions that focus on Health, Safety and Product Quality Control.

Job Summary

The Laborer position is responsible for providing a multitude of responsibilities. A successful candidate requires good mechanical aptitude with ability and desire to learn. This is a union position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform safety inspection of work area and equipment.
  • Inspect personal safety equipment for functional working conditions: hard hats, safety toed shoes, eye protection respirators, ear plugs, clothing, etc.
  • Observe all employees working in the laborer’s assigned area to see they are in a condition to work safely and are working safely.
  • Report any hazards in assigned work area to mill operator lead and record on mill report.
  • Complete pre-inspection report on any equipment that laborer may be required to use during shift.
  • Maintain a clean workstation and production floor.
  • Report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Be available to help if needed and to help clean up when task is completed.
  • May be required to shovel or sweep for all or most of an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a routine basis and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
  • Must have ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in a mineral processing site.
  • Primarily outdoor environments, moderate to loud noise levels
  • Standing for long periods on concrete or other hard surfaces; walking over rough and uneven terrain
