Operating through a fully integrated network of four mines and twelve refining, processing, and packaging facilities, the company has a unique multi-mineral platform that includes perlite, vermiculite, and diatomaceous earth. These processed minerals are used in a wide variety of applications, including food and beverage filtration, water treatment, construction materials such as acoustical tiles, horticulture irrigation, functional additives for coatings, fire retardant coatings and many more. Broad Function

The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of processing plant and manufacturing facility upgrade projects. The role requires experience with construction site management along with project and mechanical drawing software. The position will require working closely with frontline operations and maintenance team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of facility upgrade projects within a mineral processing plant and manufacturing facility.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, timelines, and resource plans and communicate goals, progress and results to team and senior management.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee the development of engineering designs for mineral processing equipment and systems.
  • Ensure that all designs meet operational requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team to develop solutions for technical challenges and optimize processes.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring that projects are delivered within cost constraints.
  • Track expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
  • Provide regular financial reporting to senior management.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, operations, sand safety.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to contractors, and site personnel.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment.
  • Identify potential risks to project timelines, costs, or quality, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that safety protocols are strictly followed to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Evaluate and address environmental impacts related to the mineral processing operations.
  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Prepare detailed project reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in mineral processing.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (or a related field).
  • 3-5 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in mineral processing or heavy industrial environments.
  • Heavy Industrial construction experience
  • Engineering or related technical experience.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost estimation for heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience developing electronic mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of PLC program logic and electronic monitoring equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents and instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, loading charts, diagrams, schedule form, material labeling and safety data sheets.
  • Strong knowledge of mineral processing technologies and equipment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with CAD software for technical design and drawings (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the essential functions of this position, the candidate will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for performing repairs, preventative, trouble-shooting maintenance within a mineral processing facility. A successful candidate requires good mechanical aptitude with ability and desire to learn. Experience in welding and mechanical and/or electrical repair desired.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Must be able to perform skilled mechanical work with ability to cut and weld.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on processing plant equipment.
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to changes and communicate effectively to all parties to keep operations running efficiently.
  • Assist in the repair and fabrication of process equipment as required.
  • Be willing to work overtime as needed (including some weekends and call-ins).
  • Assist in keeping the shop and production facility organized and free of hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a routine basis and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
  • Must be able to feel comfortable with operating and working on equipment with heights greater than 13 feet.
  • Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and achieve results.
  • Must have ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Job Summary

The QC Technician is responsible for the inspection of raw materials, in-process testing and managing material and finished products to ensure they conform to all standards. The material and product will be tested across the three stages of production (before, in-process and final) to ensure products meet quality control specifications along with recording and maintaining documentation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage QC testing of finished perlite samples and ensure that finished goods meet quality control standards before shipping.
  • Manage all functions of the plant labs including collecting, testing, documenting, retention, and training from raw material, through the production, to finished goods testing.
  • Conduct a variety of tests of materials using various testing tools and methods.
  • Conduct a series of audits throughout the production, packaging, material handling, quality evaluation and shipping processes.
  • Responds to and makes recommendations for preventive measures regarding the resolution and prevention of Customer Complaints.
  • Train and supervise all personnel and activities related to the testing of samples.
  • Interact with other Dicaperl locations on QC procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the QC team and members of other teams (production, maintenance, etc.)
  • Collect, test, document and send sample requests to customers.
  • Cross train with Production Supervisor and can fill in as needed.
  • Maintain high level communication with Production Supervisor and Plant Manager to ensure efficiency and meeting all plant goals.
  • Verification of shipping documents.
  • Ability to create written procedures or standard work for process control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills with experience in (Outlook, Excel and Word) is required.
  • Minimum 2-year degree preferred.
  • The ability to work with a high degree of independence.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to quality and detail.
  • Three years of experience in light duty manufacturing required.
  • Two years’ quality assurance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment would be a plus.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal).
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment (multi-tasking skills a must).
  • Bending to lift items from the floor and racks required.
  • Lifting items between 25 and 50 pounds required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform safety inspection of work area and equipment.
  • Inspect personal safety equipment for functional working conditions: hard hats, safety toed shoes, eye protection respirators, ear plugs, clothing, etc.
  • Observe all employees working in the laborer’s assigned area to see they are in a condition to work safely and are working safely.
  • Report any hazards in assigned work area to mill operator lead and record on mill report.
  • Complete pre-inspection report on any equipment that laborer may be required to use during shift.
  • Maintain a clean workstation and production floor.
  • Report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Be available to help if needed and to help clean up when task is completed.
  • May be required to shovel or sweep for all or most of an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
